Stir-Fried Pak Choi with Shiitaki Mushroom
This is my husband’s favourite vegetable
dish. It is very simple vegetables and easy to cook. For the classic recipe we
use shiitaki mushrooms, shiitaki mushrooms have a very special flavour which goes
well with pak choi. You could use other mushrooms if you like. This is another
fun part of cooking, you always can change the ingredients if you like, maybe
you could find your own version of the dish. To cook this you will need to use
Wok and gas cooker.
Ingredients
1 bag pak choi washed and split to single
leaves
6 shiitaki mushrooms sliced
2 cloves garlic sliced
2 sliced fresh ginger, peeled
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon salt
50ml water
2 tablespoons peanut oil
Method
Heat the wok until hot, then add 1
tablespoon peanut oil. Add shiitaki mushroom keep stir until the mushroom starts
to soften. Place the mushroom onto a plate for later. Re-heat the wok and add 1
teaspoon peanut oil again, when you see smoke then add ginger and garlic. Stir
just 5 seconds, put pak choi into the wok stir for 10 seconds. Add light soy
sauce and 50ml water whilst stirring, turning them over every few seconds so
all pak choi can feel heat of the bottom. After 3 or 4 minutes when the pak choi
goes soft, then add one tablespoon oyster sauce and saved shiitaki mushrooms
into the wok. Stir very quickly and taste, then season with salt if necessary.
Tip on to serving dish, then you can enjoy it.
